My wife and I were completely satisfied with this B&B where we spent
2 nights and then 1 night book-ending our Alaska tour . It was
better than a fancy hotel for us. The owners were warm, cordial,
and friendly. The room and bathroom were clean and neat, and our
bed was very comfortable.
The hosts were very accommodating, and their personal expertise on
Alaska and Anchorage was very helpful. They went out of their way
to help us. For example, they kept extra luggage for us while we
were on our tour. They let us use their laptop and internet in the
living room to access our email. The husband even drove us in his
car early Sun morning to the hotel where we were to meet our tour
group.
There is a large common room with kitchenette for guests to use.
The B&B is only a couple of blocks off the bus route to the airport
which was how we got to and from the B&B. The owners were very
helpful with bus route guidance. The B&B is right at a trail head
that leads to the coastal bike path. We enjoyed bike rides with the
free bikes the B&B provides.
The breakfasts were excellent--delicious with good variety. They
will give you a breakfast to go if you have to leave early.
We were very pleased with our stay and would stay here again if we
ever visit Alaska again. It was perfect for us. We have no
complaints--only thanks to our hosts for providing such a
hospitable, homey place to stay.

In Sept. we spent a
night at the Anchorage Walkabout bed and breakfast. Dr. and Mrs.
Stimson were very friendly and helpful to make sure we had
everything we needed. The beds were so comfortable I just laid down
and went to sleep. The breakfast was wonderful with the fresh sour
dough waffles served with fresh rhubarb sauce. Coffee was ready
first thing in the morning as well as cereal, bread and sweet rolls.
The decor was homey and very comfortable. Also at night it was quiet
we could sleep with out being disturbed.
Mrs. Stimson is so knowledgeable on the state of Alaska and Anchorage, which made our stay even more interesting.
I would stay at the Anchorage Walkabout bed and breakfast again and I recommend it to others.
Sincerely,

Quiet B & B, only 10-15
minutes walking from downtown Anchorage. Clean room in a cozy and
warm atmosphere. Clean shower and bathroom. Homemade breakfast and
you can eat your belly full. Nice people. If you had to catch your
plane early, this family gives a breakfast bag for the early
"birds". You get a lot of towels too. Everything is very clean. You
also can use the downstairs kitchen. Very good !
The owner has a lot of knowledge of the history of Alaska. There is
a free use of bicycles too. There is a phone available.

This past July, my husband and I
stayed at the Walkabout Town B&B. During our stay, we found the
Walkabout to be a very comfortable, welcoming, place to stay. The
breakfasts were delicious and visiting with the Stimson's and the
guests from around the world was a pleasure.
We especially enjoyed the downtown location and the proximity of the Valley of the Moon Park and coastal trail. We thoroughly enjoyed morning walks along the beautiful trail. We would definitely stay there again and highly recommend it to travelers visiting in Anchorage.

"For four women exploring Alaska together the Anchorage Walkabout Town B & B proved to be the ideal home away from home. A warm welcome, personalized attention, comfortable beds, gourmet breakfasts, convenient location (within walking distance to downtown) access to a kitchen and interesting fellow guests made for a very enjoyable and memorable experience."

Dear Sandy and Terry,
We loved our stay in Anchorage
at your Walkabout Town Bed & Breakfast. We had a much too short a
stay in your beautiful city, but we got to see one of your more
unique attractions up close and personal.... On our 10 minute walk
back to your B&B from a wonderful supper down town, we encountered a
very pleasant moose nibbling on some low branches in the
woods. Being rather naive about the habits of moose, we inched a
little closer for a better look. The moose slowly and gently began
walking towards us, and as we retreated to the safety of the
Walkabout Town B&B, the moose followed us into the yard where he
began to munch on some of the more tasty flowers that adorn the
B&B. I had time to go inside, get my camera and take some extremely
good close-up shots of the friendly critter.
The following morning, breakfast was hot, delicious and filling. Sandy added her special twist to the pancakes, making them a delightful variation from the norm. The other guests (they were from Canada) were charming and made breakfast even more enjoyable.
Our hosts went beyond expectations and were very gracious in allowing me to complete some unfinished business issues by using their fax machine and copy machine. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would heartily recommend the Walkabout Bed and Breakfast to anyone. Thanks for getting us off to great vacation!

My husband and I stayed at the Walkabout B&B and were very happy. It is centrally located and convenient to the things we were interested in doing and seeing. The room was comfortable, pleasant, nicely appointed and roomy. We are indebted to owner Sandy. Not only is she knowledgeable about all things Alaskan, but she steered us to a wonderful exhibit at the local museum. We highly recommend the Walkabout Town Bed and Breakfast.

"This is the B&B to book in Anchorage"
My sister and I used Walkabout for our home base during a two week stay in Alaska. Sandy is the perfect hostess. Wonderful hearty breakfasts (hot and fresh; or take-away if you leave on your daily adventure early), spotlessly clean rooms and baths. Sandy is happy to share her vast knowledge of AK history, culture and things you must-see/do. The B&B is adjacent to a great park and miles of trails. Bikes are available for guests to use. Downtown is within easy walking distance. Walkabout Town has it all - I recommend it without hesitation!

Visitors to Anchorage,
I highly recommend you stay at The Walkabout-Town! I travel
often throughout Alaska and have stayed in many places in Anchorage.
The Walkabout is by far my favorite place to stay. It is in a quiet
area of town just down the street from Valley of the Moon Park, yet
it is close enough to downtown to borrow one of The Walkabout’s free
bicycles. One can catch the bus just down the street if one’s
destination is farther. The hosts are very friendly and I look
forward to seeing them at each of my annual stays. They know a
great deal of Alaskan history and serve home-cooked breakfasts that
rival mom’s cooking! The beds and accommodations are comfortable
and if you need to leave early they pack you a breakfast. You get
your money’s worth and make lasting friendships in the process. I
recommend The Walk-About-Town to everyone!

We enjoyed 3 nights at Walkabout Town B&B. The accommodations were beautiful with relaxing living area & a very comforable bed & bath. We left early the first morning & were graciously driven to the train depot & provided with tasty breakfast bags. We had free use of the bicycles - it was so convenient as we had accessto the coastal trail right across the road. Sandy and her helpers were all so hospitable. We would definitely stay there again.
We had a truly marvelous time in Alaska

Thank you for your great, warm kindness! I was the first time to stay in a B&B in spite of traveling all over the world, and I was so heart-warmed for your hospitality, just like “my home.” I will recommend your B&B to my friends when I return to Japan.
Thank you so much,

July 2009 - My teenage son and I selected this B&B because of the free bicycles and hot breakfasts. Our room was very comfortable and met all of our needs. Our hosts were pleasant and very helpful with any question we had. We met wonderful people over breakfast and truly enjoyed visiting with everyone each morning over hot coffee. We enjoyed riding the bikes along the coastal trail and many other trails that led us to different lakes and ponds in search of wildlife. If we are ever in Anchorage again we would definitely stay here again.
